Welcome back!

Spring is upon us! 

Flowers are blooming, robins are chirping and our mind, body, and soul are waking up out of the long winter hibernation. Our skin feels dry, our minds are foggy and our bodies need a bit of a detox.

Spring is a time to refresh our spirit, transform, and take the first step to new beginnings. My hope is that these simple everyday tips will help you blossom, thrive, & glow in your own way.

 


Kombucha refresher

Yes! Those colorful fizzy concoctions are the bomb! They are bubbly, sweet, and diverse in flavor. Flavors range from mango, strawberry, beet, and pink lady to more dynamic flavors like echinea, mint, and pineapple. But for those who aren't familiar, kombucha is a beverage produced by fermenting sweet tea with a culture of yeast and bacteria (otherwise called scoby.)

Caroline hold the phone - what in the world? I know it doesn't sound that appealing by definition, and probably sounds like science experiment gone wrong, but don't let that stop you from experiencing the many health benefits. It'll leave you glowing from the inside out.

  • Detox the body from the yucky with gluconic acid & probiotics

Get outdoors

After the winter blues, I know my body is craving the sun light. Taking walks outdoors proves to reduce stress and promote mental well-being. Many studies have come out shedding light on how important it is to find peace in nature. In Japan, there is an age old therapy called "forest bathing" (or Shinrin-Yoku.) For therapeutic reasons, they take time to lay and walk in the nature specifically for it's healing properties. Yoshifumi Miyazaki, a leading scientist in "forest bathing" believes that walking in the forest helps lower cortisol levels (stress hormones), lower blood pressure and heart rate, boosting your immune system, and decreasing anger. So what are you waiting for? Get outside & take a much needed forest bath!


FARM TO TABLE

Farmers markets are my go to for everything. They make me feel excited, hip, and inspired.

When I lived in L.A. I loved going every Sunday to the Larchmont Farmers Market. It felt good to mingle with fellow foodies, snag some samples, and better yet build community with the farmers. You gain a deeper respect for how your products are produced.  When you engage in conversation with the vendors, most are very excited to share with you how hard they worked to create, make or grow everything. You know exactly where your product came from, which helps you feel good about what you invest in (support local businesses.) PLUS you're giving to help a beautiful cause. Their passion carries over to you. The energy in itself makes me glow! Plus all the yummy produce you get to devour afterwards is awesome (I always splurge on the rosemary sourdough bread.)

MEDITATION 

Plain and simple, meditation is the best way to make yourself GLOW.

Yes my friends, sitting down for 10 or 20 minutes a day, tuning in and focusing your attention inwards is the key! Improves mood, quality of life, stress, anxiety, headaches, lowering blood pressure and upping self confidence. Plus it helps promote healthier skin. How so? Well, when you add mindful breathing into your practice, it increases oxygen to the skin, which boosts cellular health. It's ease-peasy to get started learning basics. BREAK A SWEAT

Not just any sweat! Change it up. 

I love getting out of my comfort zone. No more living in a gym, spending endless hours on an elliptical, staring at a grey wall. Get out there! Whether it's taking a yoga class, or joining anorganized activity like spinning, weightlifting, jump roping, silks, heels class, or ballroom dancing just to boost your spirits. Better yet, investing in a trainer to keep you focused on your goals. Surround yourself with people who lift you up and serve you. Find your niche and let loose. It will make you feel like a rock star. Build everlasting habits and treat your body like a temple.

GET DIRTY

What did you think I meant?

Simply put, get outside and start planting. Herb gardens are all the rage, but seriously it leaves you feeling satisfied and one with mother nature. There's something about digging your hands in dirt that just... I don't know. Maybe I'm the only one. Be careful on that mint plant though. It'll take over and you'll be having mojitos for rest of your life.

Try legs up the wall and adding in twists to your yoga practice.

eat plant based/vegan

This has been a life changer for me. As always, do your research and talk to a qualified nutritionist before jumping on this train. Eliminating dairy, meat, and most processed foods from my life (other than my obsession with square bars) is a great way to bring compassion into your lifestyle. While you're supporting an amazing worldwide cause, it will benefit in so many ways. It has allowed me to appreciate my body, feel fulfilled, and energized.
