People tend to be generous when they share their nonsense, fear, & ignorance. And while they seem quite eager to feed you their negativity , please remember that the diet we need to be on is a spiritual & emotional one. Be cautious with what you feed you mind & soul. Fuel yourself with positivity & let that fuel propel you into positive action.”
— Steve Maraboli

Let's be frank.

The world is cray cray. Throwing in a double cray just because.

Our news feeds feed our fragile minds fear, violence, and hate (except for the random segments of a cheetah making friends with a dog.)

When we go to the depths of social media or out into the chaotic world, we can get stuck in the mud. How can we not let this cray cray feeling mess up our zen?

The weight of the world is on our shoulders more than ever, and what we do moving forward could create a more compassionate world for the future.

I'm not naive. Trust me, negative thoughts, feelings, actions, and external voices are always going to be there. We can't control the world around us. Instead, we can focus on how we can change ourselves. We need to look into that shiny mirror & give ourselves a pep talk.

"HEY YOU! YOU'VE GOT THIS."
"BE A LIGHT. SHINE BRIGHT LIKE NO ONE'S BUSINESS."

When we make a personal vow to not let the yucky circumstances define us & be a light amongst the darkness, it can cause a shift in the universe.

POSITIVE + POSITIVE = SUPER POSITIVE

Simple acts of kindness (verbally or physically) can create a positive reaction & may cause the person you interact with to pass the good vibes on to the next. A simple smile to someone at the grocery store can create a wave of positive. Look up from your phone, interact, & spread the love love love. Share positive thoughts online through social media. People need hope, compassion, and trust.

TURN OFF & TUNE IN

We can get caught up in the rants of others online. Shut down the phone. Look up & find something that's worth your time and energy (like a puppy.) News is yucky & can confuse the way we truly see the world. We're feeding ourselves hateful crap and harsh judgements. Opinions ain't my thing. You can pick up the remote and click power off.

SPEAK WITH INTENTION

I find that I have been really working on this one & here's why. I've been really upset by the posts I've seen my peers blast lately. The words that we speak to others can really change someone in a good way or a bad way. We don't know what others are feeling or going through. I came to this realization in yoga, observing my teachers. They speak with clarity, intent, and love, and it woke me up. I remember always formulating my opinion in school, work and online, and I didn't even hear or consider anything. It was always "me me me."

  • Think before you post. Does this thought serve anyone?
  • Listen when others speak, even if you disagree.
  • Observe. Watch. Speak with kindness.
  • Coexist. Putting others in groups is a recipe for disaster.
  • Let go of "I"

REFLECTION

OMMMMMMmmmmm.

Meditate.
You don't need to be Yoda (although he wasn't a bad guy.)

Caroline, why in the world should I sit still?

Hell, don't take my word for it. Look at what science says.

LAUGH

LAUGH LAUGH LAUGH LAUGH

Laughter is proven to make us feel good. I don't have to tell you that. Everyone is capable of chuckling. The best kind is when your eyes tear up & your stomach hurts so bad you feel like you may pass out. We let down a tension filled wall. We all become human again.

Plus you could always try a laughing yoga class. Why not?!

Let loose & live a little.

GRATITUDE

The negative cocktail consumes us all sometimes. We start looking at everyone & everything as an evil villain.

Call upon your alter ego superwoman/man in this time of need to drop kick those negative thoughts, by writing down what you're grateful for. Simple jots on a piece of paper can remind us of the good kicking the negative crooked thoughts to the curb. Also, sharing these thoughts with your friends, family, and pets helps us (yes, pets.)

MOTHER NATURE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND

Take a walk in nature to find peace of mind. Talk to the trees a little.

GIVE WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED

"SEVA" derives from sanksrit, meaning "SELFLESS SERVICE." Working without the expectation of reward or payment.  Helping is something we all can do to make the world thrive. I used to think that financial support was the only way to help. It's not. Donating your time & craft is a great way to connect to the world around us.

DANCE, SING, BE UNIQUELY YOU

Last advice I give is to be your own person. Dance out the cray. Find positive outlets to let out the negative. Look for the good & let's be leaders for change. Using your platform to promote something bigger is wonderful.  Live out your passion. Work together. LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY.

The world needs us now more than ever!

We are capable of making change.

May we stop & ask ourselves each day

" What can I give to the world?'

With a humble heart,

Caroline Jane
