This past week, the horrific images from Paris and around world have left an imprint in my mind. When I scroll down my news feed, or read comments below, I see heartbreaking articles. I witness hurtful conversations, full of blame, fear, and HATE. Instead of joining together, we tear each other apart; but for what? Will this help?
I lay in bed at night, barely able to sleep. My heart is filled with hurt for these tragic events around the world, and I wonder where humanity has gone.
Today, on this Monday, I choose to acknowledge my feelings and move forward with grace; allowing this mantra to set the tone for my week.
MY HEART IS A LIGHT THAT CAN'T BE TURNED OFF.
WHEN FACED WITH ADVERSITY,
I AM GROUNDED.
I AM PEACEFUL.
I AM COMPASSIONATE.
I choose these words to guide myself out of fear. Instead of breeding more hatred during this tragic time, I choose to guide people closer together, joining hand in hand, standing as one. To promote being a listener, and steer away from having the last word.
Humanity is in need of healing.
Let's respect each other and remind ourselves that all people cope, rebuild, and heal in different ways.
These powerful thoughts can change or destroy us.
Let's take action and be a light in the storm.
I hope wherever you find yourself in this moment, this helps bring a light. I'm reminded through tragedy how precious life truly is. A gift. Something to be cherished. May we take this time to reflect.
Have a wonderful week ahead! Take time to meditate, pray, or find silence for everyone around the world.
- with a humbled heart,
How will you be a light this week?
